Elections for directors of the District are conducted on the May Uniform Election Date. The next election for members of the Board of Directors of the District shall be conducted on May 3, 2025.

The election is typically conducted as a joint election administered by El Paso County at the polling places established by El Paso County to serve El Paso County’s regular election precincts within the District.

Requirements and Deadline for filing for Candidacy for the office of Director of the District:

In order to be qualified to serve as a director of the District, Section 54.102 of the Texas Water Code requires that a person (1) be a resident of the state; (2) own land subject to taxation in the District or be a qualified voter in the District; and (3) be at least 18 years of age.

A person that desires to be a candidate for the Director election must timely complete and submit an Application for a Place on the May 3, 2025, General Election Ballot. Applications for a place on the ballot may be obtained from the District’s General Counsel, Terrill & Waldrop, 810 W. 10th Street, Austin, Texas 78701, or may be downloaded and printed from the Secretary of State’s website: https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/pol-sub/2-49f.pdf.

First day for filing an Application for a Place on the General Election Ballot is Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

The deadline for filing the Application for a Place on the General Election Ballot is 78 days prior to the election, or Friday, February 14, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. The deadline for write-in candidates to file a Declaration of Write-In Candidacy is 74 days before the election, or February 18, 2025.
